THE SARANGANI leg of the Earth Day Caravan happened today at the Sarangani Provincial Capitol Gymnasium, with the theme: Tubig ay Buhay, Ating Pagyamanin at Linisin.
I used to attend celebrations like this when I was in High School as a member of the Junior Ecologist Movement of our school. This morning was a new chance for me to take part in such an endeavor.
Sir Danny of the Dpartment of Enviroment and Natural Resources approached me when I arrived at the venue a little past 8am. He told me that the hosts they have assigned cannot come and he requested that I take their place. In other words, I became an impromptu emcee. Well, it’s okay with me, because during my high school days, I had always been the emcee of our programs.
The problem was that too many people were giving me instructions. There were people from the regional office and staff from the provincial office who had contradicting instructions. Some of them are self-important. I told the PENRO of Kidapawan that I didn’t like it and she told me to take orders only from the staff of Sarangani Provicial Office because it’s the host office.
I also had problem with identifying people. Although I asked Sir Dan who the guests are, it was still difficult to tell who’s who. I also found it hard to pronounce their names, specially those with Muslim names.
I was glad that the program went well even if I wasn’t smiling at the start because I was really pissed off. I even told the audience that many of those who are at the venue are only concerned about the Earth during celebrations like what we had but loses their interest and returns to their “wicked ways” afterwards. Haha.
Seriously, the forum focused on the Global Warming issue and what people can do as the problem worsens. The suggested were simple, plant trees because they play a role in Carbon Dioxide Sequestration, save water and electricity by using them wisely, reuse, reduce, recycle, among others.
We are having a Walk for the Earth on the 21st. That’s an initiative of the DENR Sarangani Office. I didn’t quite like the idea of the Regional Office–the Earth Day Caravan–because it adds to our problem with emissions.

By the way, I am considering this website of my friends Robert and Andrei, a webdesigner is blogging, for the design of the website we are building for our alumni website. I think their site design is sleek and simply beautiful.
Have a great day, everyone!

Last year, I joined the Earth Day Tree Planting caravan when I was still having my internship at ECPC.
I’d like to join this year’s celebration; I hope I can.
We were also the one who made the mini-info kiosk in the capitol’s second floor front lobby display.:D
Huhuhu. Wanna go there in Sarangani one of these days. I miss singing the Himig Sarangan and Awit ng Serbisyo Sibil (even though I’m not a civil servant).
