Buy Me a Friend

Buy me a friend. A real friend.

This is the lowest point in my life. Ever.

I’ve never felt this kind of anger before. I’m angry at the world. I’m mad about UNREAL people. I’m so mad. I’m so mad. I’m so mad. I’m so mad. I’m so mad. I’m so mad.

Why is the world so unfriendly these days?

Lessons From a Chess Game

AS WE watch my father’s wake, I play chess with my older sister. It’s only on times like these that I get to play the game over and over. My classmates back in high school would never want to play with me because I used to be a very lousy player. Last night, as I played against my sister, I only won twice in about ten games. However, I have learned things I never would have learned if I never played the game again and again.

Here are some of my insights:

1. Life is what you make it. This existentialist belief is very evident in the game. Your victory lies on how well you play the game. Each move you make requires decision making and your choices create an impact on your future.

a. Clarify your goal. In a chess game, one wins not for how many officials he captures. The goal in Chess is to capture the King. In one of our games, my sister was playing without a Queen and some important officials but she still was able to capture my King. We sometimes lose track in life. If we do not know our purpose here in Earth, we are like a chess player who doesn’t know the objective of the game.

Bad Trip

MAYBE, IT’S only the emotional turbulence I’m on now, but I just can’t get it:

Why can’t the world be nice to you when you’re being nice to it?

Why…why…why…

A Time for Everything

LET ME share to you this passage from the Bible, Ecclesiates Chapter 3:

1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:

2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

I’m Leaving It Up to the Lord

I AM currently here at the 6th YES Camp in Dumaguete or the Youth for Environment Summer (YES) Camp 2008 with my students, while, at home my family is facing a very difficult challenge.

I was already on my way to here when I received a message from my sister that they brought my mother to the hospital because she has a deep wound in her foot as a result of an infection from an ant bite. The wound cut deep into the area around her ankles that she can barely walk. We doubted that her wound had gone into such state due to diabetes but her laboratory results proved that her blood sugar level is normal. She was able to go back home after a day at the hospital.

The following day, I received a message from my niece, who is a nurse at the hospital where my mother was brought that my father was brought there, too, that morning because he had cardiac arrest. Later, I learned that his aneurysm was reason. Blood was already inside his brain an an operation can’t possibly be successful says the doctor. He was confined in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital until the doctor declared that my father’s is a hopeless case. He was transfered to a private room on the same day and is unconscious up to now. I and the rest of my family has decided to accept whatever is the God’s will. We are hoping that His miracle would save my father.

Blogging From Dumaguete–6th YES Camp (2008)

YEHEY, I’M here in Dumaguete! I thought I would not have any chance to blog while here at the 6th Youth for Environment Summer (YES) Camp in Dumaguete City. But since today is still Day 0, we went on a tour around the city and stopped by this internet cafe because my students are really itching to play computer games.

We arrived yesterday at about 8pm. It was a long day because we left Alabel at 4am. Our flight from Davao was supposedly 11:55 but we left a few minutes past twelve because Cebu Pacific was is on time only 99% of the time. Yesterday, the 1% chance of flying behind schedule was ours. I was afraid we had to look for Accommodations in Davao in case we had to reschedule our flight.

We reached Cebu at about 2pm. They have a nice system for taxis in Cebu, where drivers can’t push through with their evil intentions. The guard gives you a piece of paper with the taxi’s name and plate number with contact numbers of the authorities to whom you may report any incidents of abuse and the like.

We missed the three o’clock bus ride from Cebu. The next one was to leave at about 6pm. That would mean, we will be reaching Dumaguete at about midnight. We could just travel at night especially that we were not familiar with the place so we looked for an alternative and we found a bus that travels to Lilo-an, Santander, Cebu, where we can take a fast craft to Dumaguete. It was an adventure because none of us had been to Dumaguete.

The bus ride was very long, quite as long as the trip from GenSan to Davao. But the sights along the way were breath-taking. We took the coastal road to the south of Cebu. From the southern tip of Cebu, Dumaguete is only fifteen minutes away. The journey was fun and we met some nice people along the way who helpfully gave us directions.

I’m On Vacation!

SEVEN DAYS. My absence from the blogosphere would be about that long because I’m leaving for Dumguete tomorrow. I will surely miss blogging on those days. But I hope the activities we will be having there would compensate.

Upon my return, I will be telling you about the Tree Planting we had at the Calminda Watershed, Sitio Pait, Brgy. Alegria Alabel, Sarangani Province yesterday.

I will also be sharing what we transpired in our ANSHS alumni this morning. It was great seeing the people I have never seen for about five years or so.

Looking Out for the Best Broadband Service

I STARTED my quest for the best broadband service that will connect me to the world wide web from our home. Turned out, I am not looking for the best but the ONLY broadband service I could avail of.

Whenever I go down to GenSan I always see to it that I can learn new information about setting up internet at home. There are a few choices I’m considering, PLDT myDSL, Smart Bro, and Globe Broadband. I procured brochures of these services and made a comparison using speed and price as bases.

I found Globe Broadband bundles attractive. They offer landline only, internet only, and broadband and landline bundles. For surfing speed up to 3 mbps, the price is only Php 1, 995.00. At the same price, you can also enjoy up to 2 mbps internet and Globe Landline.

Happy Earth Day!

HAPPY EARTH day everyone!

I have just read TIME magazine’s Earth Day issue last year, which was about what people can do about climate change. I’ll be practicing some of them at home.

By the way, here’s how Google and Yahoo! take part in today’s celebration:

My Subject Load for SY 2008-2009

WE HAD our planning conference last April 10-11, where we were given the subjects we will be handling for the school year 2008-2009.

In that Forum, it was agreed that I will be handling Physics I and Physics 2. That’s four classes plus a third year advisory class. Until the new teacher arrives (August, maybe) I will also be teaching Filipino 2, which surprised me. Why in the world will I be teaching Filipino? I accepted it, though.

Just this afternoon, my co-teacher texted me that I will not be handling the Filipino subject anymore. Instead, I will teaching General Science for freshmen. That means additional three classes. Instead of the third year advisory class, I will have a freshman class, instead.
