SCHOOL YEAR 2008-2009 will officially begin tomorrow. And I’m nervous about it.
What makes me nervous is the fact that I will be observed by DepEd supervisors from the regional office. Now, I am busy preparing myself for tomorrow, my lesson, my uniform, and my self.
It will be my first time to teach first year science. As introduction, I will be performing some magic tricks

THIS SCHOOL Year is going to be my first official school year as a public school teacher. Having taught for about half a year, I have been accustomed to the life of a public school teacher. Although, our school is quite better than other public schools here in terms of facilities–there only up to 30 students per class, we have functional science and computer laboratories–there is so much pressure on our part as we have to keep up, if not improve continually, our performance in national exams and competitions.
As early as April, we have laid down our classroom improvement plans, which included assessment of our performance in the previous school year and our individual action plans for the coming school year. I already have a clear picture of what I am going to do to. But, I am also leaving some space for surprises that might come my way. Excitement begins there.
I will know tomorrow my final subject load. If the freshman science will really be given to me, I think I am quite prepared for it–thanks to the Summer Enrichment Classes, where I gained some experience in teaching first year students.

This year, I will be sponsoring the schooling of three of my nephews and nieces. Their father died about a year ago and their mother, who is my sister, is working as a public health worker in Bulacan. She entrusted them to me before she left two weeks ago. So, I will look after their needs.

The panorama of Sitio Pait is saddening.
FINALLY, I was able to acquire copies of pictures of our Earth Day Eco-Walk and Tree Growing Activity held on April 25, 2008, for the benefit of the Calminda Watershed, which covers the areas of Barangays Alegria, Bagacay, and Paraiso, Alabel, Sarangani Province.
The protection of the Calminda Watershed is one of the top priorities of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Alabel. In cooperation with the DENR Provincial Office of Sarangani and the Local Government of Alabel, the office designated portions of the watershed for the different schools in the municipality, the different departments of the LGU, and other organizations to rehabilitate and maintain.

I HAVE only watched the news program last night after more than a week of no-TV. And last night, I have heard so much blabbery on the “system loss charge” that Meralco passes on to its consumers. There was this activist who pushes on the complete removal of “system loss charge” from the Meralco bill, which he thinks will significantly reduce power rates nationwide.
So, the problem is the high cost of electricity that is blamed on the other charges collected by Meralco and other distributors. I believe that it is legal to collect such a charge becasue according my readings, there is a law that allows distribution utilities to pass on to their consumers up to 9.5% of power purchased. But I don’t know how much Meralco charges its consumers for its system loss.
But what exactly is this thing called system loss? The discussion on TV focuses on pilferage or theft of electricity. That is what some groups of activist know that is why they are clamoring for the removal of which in our bill. They are thinking that Meralco charges everyone the cost of electricity stolen by other people.
System loss isn’t just that. It is an inevitable drawback of electric transmission.

SEVEN DAYS. My absence from the blogosphere would be about that long because I’m leaving for Dumguete tomorrow. I will surely miss blogging on those days. But I hope the activities we will be having there would compensate.
Upon my return, I will be telling you about the Tree Planting we had at the Calminda Watershed, Sitio Pait, Brgy. Alegria Alabel, Sarangani Province yesterday.
I will also be sharing what we transpired in our ANSHS alumni this morning. It was great seeing the people I have never seen for about five years or so.
