I’m Number 1 for the Keyword “GenSan Kalilangan Festival”

Ayel

OUT OF curiosity I Googled “Gensan Kalilangan Festival” and my post entitled “It’s Kalilangan Festival in GenSan!” is number in the results.

Google Result - Kalilangan

This means GenSan has yet to establish an online presence to promote its Kalilangan Festival. That must not be too far ahead because Sir Avel is working on that.

It’s Kalilangan Festival in Gensan!

Ayel

PEOPLE DOWN South of Mindanao anticipate every February the Kalilangan Festival, grand celebration of the natural, cultural, and economic wealth of the Philippine?s Tuna Capital?the city of General Santos.

Kalilang is the Maguindanaon term for celebration, thus, February 16-29 is no less a time for fun and festivity.

General Santos City takes pride in its Tuna Industry that supplies the world with 2.4 million metric tons of high quality tuna each year. Because of that, the Philippines ranks 7th among the top tuna producing countries in the world, both in terms of fresh/frozen tuna and canned tuna. (from http://www.GenSantos.gov.ph)

SOCCSKSarGen Bloggers Meet @ Coffee Club 101 Gensan

Ayel

FOR THE first time, bloggers based in South Cotabato (BrVince, Aethen), Sarangani Province (that’s me), and General Santos (Avel, Hecky, and Job with his wife, Leizel) held a meetup to get to know each other and to start something new.

In this pic: Job and his wife, Liezl, Sir Avel, Sir, Hecky,
BrVince, Me, and Aethen.

Sir Avel, who organized the meeting, was first to arrive. I and Aethen arrived next. I felt so awkward at first for two reasons: first, I will be meeting people I have never met before, and second, the place intimidated me. Good thing, Sir Avel was nice. We have already ordered some stuff on the menu when Br. Vince arrived.

Day 3 — The Big Day for the People of Kiangkos

Ayel

THE THIRD day was a busy day. We woke up early to get things done smoothly. By eight o’clock, the kids and their parents will already be at the school grounds.

The tasks were divided among us. Some were assigned at the kitchen. Others took charge of the program. I accompanied Sir Leo, Sir Jef, and Sir Boy when they prepared the stage. They used banigs for backdrop, which, I learned were woven by the B’laans themselves. The banigs were the same as the ones I mentioned in my Youngblood article. Sir Boy added grasses and native flowers.
