How Did This Happen?

OUT OF curiosity, I typed on the address bar, the url http://mail.ariellalisan.org. I was surprised that this webpage turned up: I sent him a message and I’m currently waiting for his reply. I’ve been so clueless about this until I checked just now. I dunno how this happened. I am sure...

Halalan 2010: Official List of Candidates in Sarangani

BARELY A month before the May 10 Elections, I still haven’t finalized my list of candidates to vote. In fact, I still haven’t known all the candidates running for positions in the local government. So must be most of our populace.

This list of candidates in Sarangani must be helpful:

(Grabbed this from Sir Avel’s blog)

Let’s ponder upon this list and  start getting to know them deeper.

This year is going to be a exciting election for two reasons: first, we have Manny Pacquiao going against Roy Chiongbian for Representative; and secondly, this is the first automated elections. I’m expecting (not hoping, never) too many invalid votes.

Laid-back Summer?

IT’S MID-APRIL already and there is still no action. I figure, this summer break is never going to match the fun I had last year. Or, is it too early to tell?

Good thing, I have a small venture that keeps me busy these days and erases the idea that I am going to have a boring summer vacation this year.

Well, I don’t want to make it sound big because it’s just a small business and I am not expecting it to be lucrative. At least, for now. I don’t want to count the chicken before the eggs are hatched, but I hope it could augment my income in the coming months or sooner.

Why It’s Great to Have a Big Family

IT IS Easter Sunday today and I want to start my week with a happy post.

Let me start off with my sister’s visit. She went home from Bulacan with a lot of pasalubong for the whole family.  I got a shirt and boxes of food supplement.

It’s been a family tradition that whenever one of our family members from afar comes home, my other brothers and sisters and their families living nearby should join us during meals. The dining table at home is always a banquet.

The Lord Never Fails Me

I HAVE always been told that the Lord is always faithful. He keeps His promises and He continues to love us despite our shortcomings. I have proven that.

Tomorrow, I will celebrate another year that God has added to my life. There is so much to be thankful for. I could not name them one by one but those blessings involve better friendship, stronger brotherhood and kinship, more intense learning, some achievements, a few material things, emotional stability, and countless more blessings that come all wrapped in various packages.

Tindero Tales

I WAS on Youngblood last Tuesday but I wasn’t able to savor the feeling of having been published again because I was in a quandary. It’s perplexing how easily people judge you and condemn you when you only did what you know is right and how people could easily sever relationships just because your principles do not meet?

But that is for another blog post.

Well, I went to the principal’s office last Tuesday and happened to scan the Philippine Daily Inquirer. I saw my name on the byline of the Youngblood contribution for that day. It somehow lightened my mood. There was too much pressure that day but God knows how to make me smile.

A Few Thoughts on Tecla

THE ISSUE on violence against women is one widely discussed topic in a variety of forums and copious articles in all media. Legislators all over the world are paying attention to giving women the rights, privileges, and respect attributed to men. Artists and advocates shine the light on discrimination and violence against women to amplify the call to equal rights.

Despite all these, women are still viewed as the lesser sex by many of us.

In the Bible, Eve was created because God said “it is not good for man to be alone,” which somehow tells us that Eve was created for Adam. Some interpret  it as “for the pleasure” of Adam, others say, “as Adam’s partner and co-equal.”

Teatro Ambahanon presents Tecla

ONE OF GenSan’s pride,  Teatro Ambahanon of Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges, will stage Tecla, a contemporary ballet that depicts the struggles of today’s women, tonight at the KCC Convention Center.

Aside from being an art lover, I am especially interested about the show because a friend of mine, Hanna Theresa Rivas, is part of the cast. She won in last year’s National Modern Dance Competition duo category.

I already got a ticket. It only costs fifty pesos. I hope to see you there.

The show, I believe, is part of Kalilangan 2010’s public offering.  Check out Sir Avel’s Blog.
