WITH A great number of pending cases in the backlog of Philippine courts, people question whether justice is really served in the country.
The Supreme Court of the Philippines and the Provincial Government of Sarangani has an answer — setting justice in motion. In the literal sense of the phrase, Sarangani has put wheels on its court allowing it to serve people better.
Inaugurated on November 28, 2008, in a ceremony attended by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, Reynato S. Puno, the Justice on Wheels bus of Sarangani will serve as a mobile court to address legal problems in the province.
The JOW project is also being implented in other parts of the country but the Chief Justice singled out Sarangani as the only province that provided a bus.
Just a thought: Justice in elusive in this part of the world. Won’t putting wheels on it make it more elusive?
Meanwhile, in addition to Justice on Wheels, the Province of Sarangani also launched the website, Tamdanan sa Balaod (Legal Basis).
The website aims to educate the people who have access to the internet, especially students, on the various resolutions passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Sarangani.
The Tamdanan sa Balaod website was launched at Alabel National Science High School, just this afternoon.

….the Chief Justice singled out Sarangani as the only province that provided a bus….Sarangani Province is RICH huh…..Good works !!!!

It’s alright even if it’s old as long as it is in very good running condition at hindi ito palyado….baka pagnagpunta sila sa liblib na lugar ma stuck up pa ang ating mga justices …. pero mukhang bago naman…d b???

@bientot – wag naman you mag-joke. The judge can tell the driver to stop if he– or anybody else –has motion sickness or if they are distracted by the motion. Haha.
Seriously, the bust will enable the court to reach out to concerned people in remote areas and serve justice there. Trials can be done inside the bus (while it’s stationary. :p ). And I’ve heard the legal office is planning to conduct seminars on particular laws to be held in various barangays in the province. The bus will be a big help in that case.
