Updates

Ayel

WHAT A creative title! (Harhar!) But that is exactly what this post is about. Let me tell you what I’m into these days.

THE BLOGGING SEMINAR. It’s still not very clear up to this day. Loreen and I are working hard for this in preparation for the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 2, which will be held in GenSan on October 25. What is good is that we’ve now found a partner organization. However, our contact person is not as enthusiastic as we are about this project. He’s quite hesitant and pessimistic. But, of course, we won’t allow to be influenced. We will influence him, instead. There are plenty of problems like venue and availability of speakers. But we hope to settle things as soon as possible.

THE CHOIR COMPETITION. I attended our practice this afternoon. Yes, our church choir is joining a competition, which is part of my town’s (Alabel, Sarangani Province) 37th Foundation Anniversary, called Kasadyaan Festival.  We’re singing two songs with very difficult vocal arrangements but we’re optimistic about it. I hope we will win. Haha.

BOUGHT MORE BOOKS. I did my first Paypal-to-Bank account withdrawal last week and I got it yesterday. So, as a remembrance from my blogging money, I bought books from Book Sale. I liked those books very much; I’ve been eyeing for weeks but it’s only yesterday that I had the chance to purchace them. But, of course, since a lot of books are still in the queue, they’d just be resting in my bookshelf, for now, except for two, the poetry collection and the one on workout tips.

COMPUTING MY STUDENTS’ GRADES. Thanks to MS Excel, it’s no-sweat now. Some of my co-teachers still compute their students’ grades manually. In my case, I just encode the formula and voila, my students’ grades appear in a flash. The only hard part is checking their papers, especially, the essay and problem-solving parts. The job needs a great deal of concentration. I’ll also be checking out my edubuntu CD to see what resources are there to help me in my job.

SCIENCE MONTH ACTIVITIES. September is science month. And annually, we’re having a camp in the campus. Although, I’m one of the club moderators, I don’t have a big role in it. I will only be supporting the moderator. One of my tasks is to design our t-shirt. I’m also planning to put up an exhibit at the lobby. We’re also conducting review sessions with the fourth year students who are taking various college entrance exams and other tests, as well as with our contestants for the science quiz.

That’s all folks. Thanks for checking out my blog. Have a great day!
