I’VE JUST realized I’m quite into long titles these days.
Well, it’s July 18 on Friday. I’m sure, you have heard a lot about the 8.1 magnitude earthquake that was rumored to hit the Philippines. But let’s have some additional information about the said.
From another forwarded email, I have learned that there really exist doomsday predictions for 2008. But the facts that were circulating few weeks ago were not quite true.
First off, the name of the foreteller is not Juseeleno Nobulega Daroose, as was circulated. Close, but not quite. The name of the person is, reportedly, Jucelino Nobrega da Luz. He is a Brazillian psychic. You might want to confirm the information by Googling it. You”ll find a lot of blogs and news organizations websites discussing the matter.
This man, da Luz, according to online sources did prophesy some destruction for the month of July. Here’s an excerpt from http://www.jucelinodaluz.com.br/previsoes_2008_english.htm:
- 60- Conflicts of homeless will mark in the south of Brazil and invasions and protests everywhere;
- 61- Strong Typhoons hit Japan resulting in big disruption and many deaths;
- 62- Australia is hit by a strong cyclone and there are many problems, leaving homeless;
- 63- Chile will be hit by a Earthquake of 6.9 in Richter scale and São Paulo feel the tremor;
- 64- Big floods hit France, Germany and Moldavia leaving thousands of homeless and deaths;
- 65- Increase the conflicts in Turkey and combats everywhere against the Kurds (next to Iraq);
- 66- Bombing kill more than 100 people in north of Iraq;
- 67- Revolt and conflicts in Algeria (Africa) mark blood in the country. An earthquake of 7.1 hit the capital;
- 68- Increase the consume in Japan of 4.2% and the economic speed up;
- 69- A small earthquake of 3.1 is observed in the region of the Amazon;
The Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), through Director Renato Solidum Jr., has already publicly announced that the content of the email should not be taken seriously, saying that no one in the world could tell the exact magnitude and day of occurrence of an earthquake.
True or not, it’s better to be prepared as no one really knows when a disaster would take place. Do you still remember the earthquake drills you did in school? It might just help if you recall them now. Take a look at this: Earthquake preparedness.

zea, I have an idea for the MBS 2. I’ll contact you by email anytime to day. I just need connections sa NDDU. However, I dunno the people there–like whom to send the communications. We’re planning to conduct a blogging seminar at NDDU this month or early August similar to what we had at NDMU last Feb 2. Hope you can help. I asked my nephew’s help but he’s too busy.
