I’M VERY glad, you know, that I’m not the only one who’s getting more and more excited to learn about physics. Some of my students are sometimes overly excited about the topics we’re discussing and some future topics I asked them to start reading about.
I think it’s just fine to talk about my students in this blog.
There’s my student named Gwenathan who would always ask me questions from time to time, asking me to explain this phenomena, that equation, etc. I admit, I’ve never been that interested in physics when I was in high school. I was just amused when I was able to figure out the Bernoulli equation back then and what it meant. But Gwenathan is different. He comes up to me during my free time (and sometimes, even when I’m having my lectures in other classes) to ask questions. Wouldn’t you be glad to have a student like that?
But everytime he asks questions, I would confuse him purposely so he’d read more about those stuff and find the answers himself. Oftentimes, he comes back to me to say he’s finally figured out this concept, or discovered ways to solve problems.
Another one is Bien. He noticed that physics concepts are explained using idealized models. Also, whenever we discuss new theories and laws, he would always ask for realistic axamples and would always want to account for the effects of friction, for instance, or air resistance. Good thing, when we were discussing projectile motion last year, I was able to find a java applet that illustrates the effect of drag on the projectile’s trajectory.
I’ve heard Bien is planning to take up a physics-related course after college.
Gwen and Bien are two of my quizzers come Science month.

very eager students. this reminds me of my sons budding habits these days. good thing, they don’t ask questions one after the other, like 5 years olds do.
i’ve never been good in physics, so much so in mathematics but i don’t know how in the world did i graduate civil engineering hehe.

zea, thanks for coming back.
Glad to know you are blogging, too!
Well, how would you like to help us organize the Mindanao Bloggers Summit?
Dimaks, you should be kidding. haha.
