First Day High!
IT WAS certainly a blast.
Until now I am suffering from the effect of the tension I felt on the first day of class. I tried to be at ease with my students but I couldn’t help it. It must be my adrenaline glands that made me feel like there was much energy inside me that was ready to explode anytime.
Unfortunately, the energy seemed to have been completely dissipated at the end of the day. Last year, the third year and fourth year students were easy to handle. This year, I have freshmen who are so spirited and frivolous that sometimes annoy me.
On the first day, I asked them to look back at how they behave when they were still gradeschoolers. I told them to list down, as many as they can, behaviors, which had not been helpful to them as students. After a while, a students asked me, “How many will we write, sir?”
It took me look to respond to his question. Ordinarily, Aethen can attest to it, I would say, “Putah, tanga ka ba?” Kidding. It irritates me. I hate repeating myself.
When I am at home writing my plans for the next lessons, I can’t focus. I am always distracted. As a result, my ideas get all mixed up. While I’m writing my lesson plans for the fourth year class, an idea for my first year class would get into my mind and I end up losing my concentration.
Patience is a virtue. It’s a long way to go for me. I hope this is not gonna last until the end of the year. I might go insane.

hahaha. This reminded me of my experience of being a student teacher to freshmen. How can I forget that day when misthrew a chalk board eraser towards a student, hitting the glass door instead, and behind that glassdoor is the teacher whom I substituted for? Crap, I was dead meat during that time.
Get used to it. Freshmen are still playful and fickleminded. Just stick with the reason that they are in a transition from being kids to responsible adolescents and they are on the process of adjustment. Keep that determination and patience on high.
(:
