The Hassle Caused by a Check
I RECEIVED a check from NDMU Alumni Association as mortuary aid because, as you know, my father just passed away. But until now, about a week after my father’s burial, I still haven’t cashed it out.
The problem was that it’s a regional check so I can’t use it in stores here in Alabel or in GenSan. According my aunt, I can deposit it into my account but the Land Bank (LBP) branch here in Alabel cannot process the said check because they do not accept regional checks for inter-branch deposit transactions since my savings account is at LBP Marbel.
When I was still working in Marbel I would always go to the mall to have my salary changed to cash. So when I was in Marbel last Saturday to meet our JVP friends who arrived from Manila, I tried having the check converted to cash through the malls but they won’t accept it because it already bears a Land Bank stamp. That pissed me off.
The last recourse I could do is have it changed at DBP on weekdays or to deposit it into my Land Bank account in Marbel. But since I had to be back here in Alabel becasue of our summer classes, these options are simply impossible. Why is it so difficult to make transactions with banks? But if I have Savings Accounts in all banks, this might be easier. But I’m not rich to have multiple savings accounts.
