WE HAD our planning conference last April 10-11, where we were given the subjects we will be handling for the school year 2008-2009.
In that Forum, it was agreed that I will be handling Physics I and Physics 2. That’s four classes plus a third year advisory class. Until the new teacher arrives (August, maybe) I will also be teaching Filipino 2, which surprised me. Why in the world will I be teaching Filipino? I accepted it, though.
Just this afternoon, my co-teacher texted me that I will not be handling the Filipino subject anymore. Instead, I will teaching General Science for freshmen. That means additional three classes. Instead of the third year advisory class, I will have a freshman class, instead.
I will talk to the principal about this. Honestly, I don’t think I will be effective in handling seven classes–major subjects at that–and an advisory class, especially now that I am still on the adjustment period. I can’t imagine myself teaching for seven hours a day, and doing the ranking every end of the quarter. (Just a thought, I might persuade our principal to issue me a laptop, which would be of help to me as I prepare my lessons and my students’ progress reports. But of course, the school can’t afford that. She migh be issuing us flash disks, instead. Haha)
But of course, if there would be no available teachers to share the burden with me, I will accept it and consider it a challenging learning experience, instead. Anyway, teachers in other schools have more on their shoulders since they have more students in a class and their students are not as easy to teach as our students here.
I am looking forward to a wonderful school year ahead. I hope I could learn a lot and contribute greatly to my students’ total development.

Oo nga. Gagawan ko pa yan ng paraan. I’ll negotiate it with our principal. I honestly won’t be effective with that load.

wow. ang daming dapat gawin. Ang hirap talaga maging teacher, in terms of workload and salary.
Kaya mo yan kuya! Nakakapagod man, pero teachers have this sense of fulfillment na hindi kayang mabigay ng ibang jobs that’s more than anything else in this world.
do your best! (:
