DUMAGUETE, HERE we come!
On April 27, we will be leaving Sarangani for a five-day YES Camp (Youth Environment Summer Camp) at Foundation University, Dumaguete City.
I and Sir Marco will be chaperoning our students to the Camp. But there are sessions for teachers, also. So, it will definitely be another learning experience for me.
However, I have one problem: I will be shouldering my own expenses because the school doesn’t have funds anymore for the said trip. But it’s okay, I will defer my purchasing a computer ’til next month.
I have read the memo and a lot of exciting activities were lined up–essay writing, poster and slogan making, eco-tour, coastal cleanup, among others. There is, in fact, a session on blogging as tool for promoting concern for the environment. That one’s nice. They also invited some celebrities and TV personalities.
We will flying from Davao to Cebu on the 27th and we will take the bus from Cebu to Dumaguete. I believe there’s a Roll-on/Roll-off service that will take us across the water. We will return on May 3rd–that gives us about a day to tour the kids around tourist spots near Mactan Airport. But I’m not quite sure if I can meet my friends and some bloggers in Cebu.
A friend from Silliman University promised to take us on a tour around the oldest secular university in the Philippines. Sir Marco, who is a history teacher was so enthused when I told him about it. I’m srue the students will love it, too.
I am so excited.
