What's Keeping Me Busy These Days
WHEW! I thought I would be actively blogging again, but I failed. It’s just that too many things are happening each day and I can’t find time to blog. Well, anyway, I’m glad I managed to sneak some time for this post.
For alums of Alabel National Science High School, we will have a meeting on April 26, 1 pm at the Male Faculty Lounge, ANSHS Campus. I hope to see you there!
I and Jed of Batch 2007 are already doing the plans ANSHS website. Although, this has not been formally introduced to the Principal because of the many important things she has to focus on, I believe she would be very glad that we are taking the initiative.
I am actually thinking of creating a WordPress blog. We will just tweak the codes to come up with a professional looking theme. But Jed, who is an IT student at UP Mindanao, is talking of creating a website from scratch–you know, creating a flow chart, designing, and all that stuff. I think the WP will provide a no-sweat CMS but he’s thinking of creating our own CMS. He estimates that the website will be completed within six months. I’m so glad he’s volunteering to do the job. I bought a domain and had it hosted in my hosting account. Jed says that he will installing a sever OS in one of our computers in school. Actually, he was just asking at first but I saw that he’s interested to do it. So, I told him, I’ll take care of the content while will do the technical aspect.
I just hope that something like onlyalumni.com exists in the Philippines. Only Alumni is based in the US. It is like an online community of schools where alums can get connected with each other. It would be easy for a certain school to organize a reunion like Ridgeway High School Reunion, where the details of the event are posted. Schools can also register like Springdale Arkansas Alumni. It also makes possible searching through schools within a state like Arizona Alumni.
I think there’s eskwela.com in the Philippines but I’m not quite sure if they have this feature.
For the website we are building for our school, I am planning of creating a directory of our alumnus and alumni. That way, tracer surveys could be done in a flash. We are still spreading the news about it. I think, we can do some public service for schools in Sarangani by creating a directory like that one in onlyalumni.com. I think it would feasible as Internet Cafes grow like mushrooms.
Last night, I set up the hosting and domain for our website. It’s already accessible but it has no content yet. I installed WP, which will be our temporary site. I hope I and Jed can talk about our project personally so we can discuss it in detail.
God bless us!
