MOST FILIPINOS make a big fuss about the Holy Week. But does everyone understand what we are commemorating during this time of the year?
Watching the evening news made me realize that to many of us this season is only a long holiday, during which we take a break from our busy schedules. The spotlight is on the different destinations people can go to. Celebrities and ordinary people alike have their suitcases packed for fun and relaxation in resorts in Boracay, Cebu, Laguna, Batangas, Thailand, US, etc. as if the Lenten season is a prelude to summer getaways many of us are looking forward to.

NO, I am NOT depressed.
They say, if you don’t accept the fact that there is indeed a problem, you can never get it sorted out. So, if I kept on saying to myself the first line if this post, I would have been in a mental asylum now.
Yeah, my past few days had been stressful. Let me enumerate what those stresses were.
- I had been busy with school stuff: I had to complete the grades of my students in the four classes I handle. I facilitated the hands-on phase of the screening for incoming freshmen and it was stressful. I was part of the panelist during the seniors’ thesis defense, it, too, was quite a pressure.

THERE IS a Cebuano song entitled Baboy (Piggy). It’s playing in my head now and I feel as shitty as the song.
Baboy
by Enchi
Kung ako’y mahimong baboy
Ihigot sa inyong silong
Kung aduna mo’y kaluoy
Pakauna lang ug tae
Kung ako’y mahimong tae
Ipapilit sa inyong haligi
Kung aduna mo’y kaluoy
Ipakaon lang sa inyong baboy
Chorus 1:
Kung wa na’y baboy
Sa inyong silong
Wa na’y mokitkit
Sa igit nga miipilit
Sa inyong haligi (2x)
If I’m going to be a piggy
You tie me under the backyard
If you have mercy on me
You feed thy shit to me

I SHOULD say that these days are my busiest.
I feel like a student again, rushing to finish all the requirements before graduation comes. I have a lot of things to accomplish. But like a masochist, I seem to like it. Very much.
I enjoy it because I feel useful again. I guess it is my primary need to be of use to people. Haha.
I sat as one of the panelists in the two-day thesis defense of the seniors. It wasn’t very hard because I have observed so many of similar events when I worked at the NDMU Research Center where I have learned what questions to ask. I have also been into numerous research congresses so I have sort of mastered the process.

I SAW this picture in one of the folders I keep. I didn’t appreciate it before much as I do now. Visit Digital Detours to see my other photos.
