My Message for My Students

Ayel

YESTERDAY WAS the graduation exercises of my students at Alabel National Science High School. I felt an outrageous mix of emotions yesterday. It was one of the most emotion-packed days of my life for a variety reasons.

Although I have been with these kids for only about six months but I felt some pain about their leaving the premises of the school. They had been very good students and I am very happy that I have influenced them in one way or another. They, in turn, have touched my life at one point.

Their graduation is especially significant for me because they were my first students. I told them during the last lesson I gave them that I am thankful for they have been lab rats.

Here is a portion of the message I sent to them through our e-group:

May God Bless you as pursue college education or whatever plans you have in mind. I know you have an exciting future ahead of you because you are indeed bright students, oozing with confidence and optimism. Believe me, you will be needing a lot of that in college. Keep that
in mind.

Make sure that you would always take a look back as you go on further. I am very well sure that you would not have become the kind of persons that you are now if not for your experiences here, good or bad. I know, however, that you are the kind who always are
grateful for everything.

Keep rockin’ as you have always told each other in this e-group. Keep loving the idea of learning something new everyday. You are just about to bloom so promise me you won’t get it derailed. Stay enthused and rev up towards whatever good you are looking forward to for yourselves.

It’s really a big world out there, explore it. Listen. Listen. Listen. That, among our five sense, is what I think is king. Listen, not just with you ears. You know what I mean.

There would be plenty of pressures coming up. Don’t give in. Don’t ever give up. There would a lot of adversaries, keep your cool. Be objective. Know and stick to your priorities.

I have lots of things to share with you but I am afraid it would get longer and longer and you would end up straining your eyes or absorbing all the radiation coming right from this computer screen. Would the words, “I wish the best for you” ever be enough?
