WHAT A creative title! (Harhar!) But that is exactly what this post is about. Let me tell you what I’m into these days.

THE BLOGGING SEMINAR. It’s still not very clear up to this day. Loreen and I are working hard for this in preparation for the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 2, which will be held in GenSan on October 25. What is good is that we’ve now found a partner organization. However, our contact person is not as enthusiastic as we are about this project. He’s quite hesitant and pessimistic. But, of course, we won’t allow to be influenced. We will influence him, instead. There are plenty of problems like venue and availability of speakers. But we hope to settle things as soon as possible.

THE CHOIR COMPETITION. I attended our practice this afternoon. Yes, our church choir is joining a competition, which is part of my town’s (Alabel, Sarangani Province) 37th Foundation Anniversary, called Kasadyaan Festival. …click here to read more

Ivan Raborar, A South Cotabateño on Project Runway Philippines

AMIDST THE negative you we hear about Mindanao, here’s a lighter info. I’ve found out on the web that a local fashion designer, Ivan Raborar, 23, is on the fashion reality show, Project Runway Philippines on etc.

Ivan Raborar

On the show’s third episode, he was described to be a fast-worker. Although, I guess, he has yet to prove what he’s got as a fashion designer. But who knows the next top Pinoy fashion designer would come from South Cotabato?

Are We Still Safe Here?

I REALLY don’t know. I am acknowledging this fear that envelops our place these days. Some unconfirmed reports reach us that there was an encounter at this place, a bomb exploded at that school, etc.

We find it difficult to bring back our students’ motivation to learn after what happened yesterday.

Conflicts still arise as to whether there really are threats or not. Maybe, the enemies will come. Or, maybe not. How will we know? What should we do?

Stay calm? Be vigilant? The authorities tell us that. But don’t these words [calm and vigilant] mean opposite to each other?

How could we move on from this unrest?

IT COULD just be paranoia but we could never risk the safety of our children.

12:52 PM Our principal called for an emergency meeting, the second meeting we had today that zeroed in on matters of safety and security. The schools has received calls that messages were circulating about schools in General Santos City whose students and teachers were hostaged. We were not very sure of the report but for the reason that we have to secure the safety of our students, we have decided to send them home. …click here to read more

Beijing2008: Michael Phelps establishes Olympic record for most number of gold medals won

ISN’T HE just an amazing swimmer, Michael Phelps, winning a total of 16 Olympic medals? That is even more than what a country’s whole batch of athletes could bring home after an olympic event. Only very few people could earn success of such magnitude.

In the Beijing Olympics, he garnered eight gold medals, whoich earned him the record of most number of gold medals won. Here’s what I got from wikipedia about the events he won in Beijing: …click here to read more

I DON’T have that six-pack abs yet. But not for long.

No, I’m not hallucinating or what. I’m just being positive that my efforts will come into fruition after some time. Let me tell you about the activities I’m currently hooked into.

First is cycling. If you’ve been reading my blog, you might have known that I ride my mountain bike to school. To give you an idea how far I travel everyday, I took a picture of my route using Google Earth. Here it is:

Protect Your PayPal Account from Phishers

I DON’T want to sound like an expert online money-maker with this post. I’d just like to warn some bloggers who have PayPal accounts that online phishers are at work. And I’d like to reveal their scheme here.

I received an email with subject “Remove Limitation” from someone who disguises himself as a representative of PayPal. The email looked official. If you are not careful enough, you would believe it’s the real thing. Here are some screenshots:

The Phisher’s Email

I highlighted the parts that I found dubious. PayPal has always

Exam Week is Hell Week for Teachers, Too!

YEAH, WE are cramming, too, just to comply with the requirements. You have to prepare a TOS based on your lesson plan and translate that into questions. Then you encode your questions, print it, and have it reproduced. Sounds easy but it squeezes life out of me. (Not really. Haha.) It’s just that I have to devise tricky questions for my smart students. You know, they’re not your ordinary students. It’s not an easy job, really.

But maybe, I’m just saying this because I’m still new to this setup. Once I have made my own test bank I expect that it would be a lot easier like it is now for my fellow teachers here.

Support Laarni on Pinoy Dream Academy

THE LAST gala performance night had been very unfair on the part of Laarni, who hails from nearby Sultan Kudarat. She should not have been under probation because she did a lot better than the other scholars inside the academy.

Here are the reasons why I think it was very unfair for Laarni:

First, the song choice was biased in favor of Liezel. Liezel was made to sing the Beyonce hit, Listen, which is perfect for her because of the association that people are inclined to make between the two. Laarni, on the other hand, was made to sing an April Boy Regino classic, Di Ko Kayang Tanggapin, with a very difficult vocal arrangement.

Old Friends, Young Friends

A WISE man once said that every person should maintain at least 3 kinds of FRIENDSHIP:

1. Friends of your own age whom you can talk over your problems, plans and goals with confidence.

2. Friends older than you to whom you can confide and be assured of wise counsel.

3. Friends younger than you whom you can share your life’s experiences.

THE TAG:

I’m tagging, Aethen, Loreen, Mark, Juler, and Richard, my friends of my own age; Sir Avel, and Sir Hecky, friends who are older than me; and Joanna and Cathy, who are younger than me.

Thanks to Redlan, who had always been the most thoughtful blogger.
